Editors Note: Welcome all to the Academic Success Blog. This week's blog post is written by two of our new staff members, Tasha Gooden and Emma Coomes, who will introduce themsleves as the new Academic Advising team through the OAS!

We are quickly approaching the beginning of a new semester and with every start to a new academic year come changes.  Just last week the office of Academic Support moved from the Greenspring campus to the Owings Mills campus and is now located in Caves Sports and Wellness Center in rooms 248 and 250. We are very excited to have this new space in Caves and hope that it means we will see many of you throughout the year stop in to the office.  We also have two new members to the Academic Support team who will be making up the Academic Advising portion of the office.  Tasha Gooden is the new Director of Advisement and Emma Coomes is a new Advisor.

Greetings!!! My name is Tasha Gooden. I am so excited to join Stevenson as the Director of Advisement.  Spanning coast to coast, I was born in New York and raised in California. After completing my Masters in Counseling and Student Services from California State University, Fresno; I migrated back to the East Coast. As a first generation college student, I have developed a sincere passion for seeing others thrive. I love to help students navigate the ins and outs of student life and succeed beyond their dreams. My love for helping others flows over into my passion for helping people look and feel their best through my licensed cosmetology services. Please know that our team here in The Office of Academic Support is here to help you. College will be such a memorable time in your life and we want you to know that you have support to help you reach your goals. I challenge you to swing by our office and say Hello & ask a question. Our doors are open to you. CHEERS to the 2015-2016 school year!!!

Hello All.  My name is Emma Coomes, I am the new Academic Advisor in the office of Academic Support.  I recently moved to Baltimore from Ohio after graduating with my Master’s Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education. During my Master’s program I worked within Academic Success and Advisement at Slippery Rock University and Allegheny College.  Some of my interests include travel, reading, cooking/baking, and watching movies.  I am located in Caves 248 if you ever need or want to stop in and say hello.  I look forward to a new and exciting school year!
