Is it really late September already?!

It can be difficult to fathom that we are already on the verge of a full month into the semester. Time has flown by as we moved into new residence halls, met new people, and began new courses....Click here to read more.

Well, despite some snow, ice, rain, and cold weather, we’ve all made it to the fourth week of classes! This is always an interesting time; it still feels like the start, but things are picking up quickly. Today, I’d like to talk about something that I’ve noticed both in my time as a college student and as a staff member here at SU about this time in the semester. Students tend to come in each semester ready to turn over a new leaf. They say “this semester, I’m going to [insert good study habit here] instead of [insert bad study habit here].” Now, I don’t want anyone to think I’m discouraging this type of thinking, but all too often students give up on those goals right around this point. Wow! What an exciting week and a half it has been here at SU. We are off to a great start here in the Academic Link; all of our student employees (tutors, receptionists, and PASS Leaders) have received the first part of their training. We have also seen some great success with our new WCONLINE scheduling system with over 450 students registered thus far (if you haven’t already done so, go to www.stevenson.mywconline.com to get yourself an account!). What I’ve been most impressed with is that we have had over 50 tutoring appointments and it is only the beginning of the semester!...Click here to read more.
