School of Humanities and Social Sciences News

Check out the Spring 2017 issue of The Greenspring Review featuring original writing, photography, fashion design, and artwork by SU students!

Students in the Criminal Justice program gave presentations on their internship experiences during the senior showcase.  Internship sites included Baltimore County Police Department, several local law firms, and the Department of Juvenile Justice.  Many thanks to the site supervisors who worked with the interns all semester and came to the event to support our students!

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio for the annual Midwest Victorian Studies Association Conference.  This year's theme was "Victorian Tastes," and presentations addressed topics such as tea drinking, adulterated food, women composers, transatlantic aesthetic influences, and the scent of poetry.  Participants were also treated to performances by the talented Oberlin Conservatory music students.  It was an excellent opportunity to connect with trends in the discipline and reconnect with some old friends!

Faculty, friends, and family gathered this week to celebrate the 2017 Spring graduates from the Human Services program.  Students shared their experiences at their field placement sites, which included Irvine Nature Center, Maryland Special Olympics, and Baltimore County Public Schools, and discussed their plans for after graduation.  We are so proud of your accomplishments!

Please join us for the final conversation of the year.  Friday May 5, 4:30, SoLVE Center, OMN.  All are welcome!
