Should colleges help students get jobs or should we help students find their passion?  More important, are these two endeavors mutually exclusive?  A recent article in the Washington Post points out that an increasing number of adults aged 44-70 are searching for an "encore career." "They have not found fulfillment in their chosen jobs and want to find something that provides greater meaning and impact," writes Angel B. Perez of Trinity College, CT.  If a student's education is too focused on one career she/he may be unable to have the flexibility and nimbleness required by the contemporary market.  Indeed, Perez notes that today's undergraduates may have between 10 and 14 jobs by the time they are 38 years old.  Finding a passion while in college will help prepare students for a lifetime of learning and fulfilling work.
