2019 marks the 75th anniversary of American internment of Japanese and Japanese-Americans during WWII. Two years ago, the Trump administration issued Executive Order 13769, commonly known as the Muslim Ban. Times of Perception is a multimedia exhibition that reflects on the experience of Japanese Internment, the Muslim Ban and the treatment of Muslims after the War on Terror.
Times of Perception will present works by artists Saks Afridi, Sobia Ahmad, Nancy Chikaraishi, Kei Ito, Wendy Maruyama, Azzah Sultan, Mary Tuma, and Qinza, which address our current political and social attitudes in the context of American treatment of populations perceived as “other.”
