War Veteran and Paralympic Gold Medalist Brad Snyder spoke to incoming Stevenson students and their families on Thursday, August 21st at Stevenson’s Owings Mills gym. Snyder, who suffered complete vision loss after stepping on an IED while serving in an Afghanistan, touched on the need for both perspective and optimism to overcome life’s challenges—two elements that helped him rehab his injury and earn a gold medal at the 2012 Paralympics in London in the 400-meter freestyle swim event just one year to the day he lost his vision.

George Moore has been investigating the intersection of animation, sound, video, and code for the past two decades. His recent work in digital animation explores subtle interaction of layers, the influence of spatial and temporal phenomena on each other, and the role of individual memory on perception. Opening reception Wednesday, Sept. 3, 6-8 p.m. at the Greenspring Campus art gallery.

For the 10th consecutive season, Stevenson University presents "Summer Serenades in the Valley," a festive outdoor concert series featuring a wide array of music by Stevenson's resident ensemble, the Greenspring Valley Orchestra, and other groups organized by Stevenson's music faculty. All performances begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Cuvilly Exchange patio area, located on Stevenson's Greenspring Campus, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153. All performances are free and the public is invited to attend.

Stevenson University graduated the largest class in the school's history this spring when 550 students received their diplomas at Stevenson's 61st Commencement, Friday, May 9 at the University's Greenspring gymnasium. Delivering the keynote address to the record field of graduates was Baltimore-raised Byron Pitts, a multiple Emmy-award-winning journalist and current Anchor and Chief Correspondent for ABC News.

The grand unveiling of the Mustang Statue, "Victory" took place on April 23, 2014 to a grand presentation and a fun reception that followed. The statue will stand as a symbol of pride and encouragement for all Stevenson University students, faculty and staff. The sculpture was crafted by artist Bart Walter of Eldersburg, MD.

Stevenson University hosted a symposium on April 4, 2014, for first generation college students. There were helpful workshops and seminars to learn and connect with people who can help with students who are the first in their family to go to college.
