The Office of Residence Life
Stevenson University is committed to developing a residential community that supports the mission and values of the University. To this end, student housing is provided as an added educational facet of college life. The Residence Life staff promote opportunities for residents to actively participate in living environments that support and enhance personal and academic growth. As a liaison between students and other University offices and departments, Residence Life staff provide education with respect to housing and social adjustment issues, and assists students in building a community that is safe, clean, and well-maintained so that students may concentrate on their educational pursuits.
The mission of the department is to work with residents to learn to:
- Share living space with others
- Communicate and compromise
- Develop respect for self and others, including differences
- Make responsible decisions to prepare for a successful future
- Be a successful and active member of the residential community

The Residence Life staff consists of the Dean of Residence Life, Bob Mikus, as well as Resident Directors and Resident Assistants.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are student leaders who live in the buildings to help make your experience in housing the best it can be. They are carefully selected and specially trained to help in case of emergencies, roommate issues, or concerns. Each RA also plans at least one event per month.
Resident Directors (RDs) are full-time professional, live-in staff members who hold bachelor's or master's degrees. Resident Directors assist with problems, supervise RAs, encourage student development, and advise the Residence Hall Association.
Residence Life staff members are on-duty every night during the regular academic year. The schedule for who is on-duty and how to contact them is so posted on the bulletin board on every floor of the residence halls.
