How Do I Put in a Maintenance Request?
If your problem is not an emergency, please submit your request directly through the SU Facilities Help Desk. Be sure to identify your building and room number and SU room telephone number in your help desk request. You will receive a ticket number to track the status of your request.
What is Considered an Emergency?
If you find that your maintenance problem falls into this category please contact the Residence Life Office during normal business hours at ext. 2588 and SU Security after hours at ext. 4500 or 443-352-4500.
Houskeeping & Pest Control
Housekeeping staff clean the public areas of our residence halls: lounges, hallways, and lobbies. Residents and their roommates are expected to clean their apartment/suite on their own, and to maintain healthy housekeeping habits. Good housekeeping is a key to keeping our community maintained as a clean and healthy environment. If you think you may have a pest problem, please submit a maintenance request immediately to the SU Facilities Help Desk.
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
Air conditioning and heat are controllable within each living unit. Roommates must discuss and agree with each other on reasonable use of the heat and air conditioning. Thermostats should not be set above 72 degrees for heat or below 68 degrees for air conditioning. If the outside temperature is below 60 degrees, thermostats in the living units should never be set to the "cool" setting to avoid damage to the air conditioning compressor unit. Damages arising from improper use of heating and air conditioning may be charged to the students of that living unit.
Repair/Replacement Costs
The Suite Inspection Report/Apartment Inspection Report that you received at check-in serves as a guide to repair and replacement costs and should not be interpreted as an all-inclusive list. Individual maintenance costs may vary depending on extent of damage, time needed for repair, cost of materials, etc. Residents will be individually assessed for damages as they are reported and/or upon resident check-out. Damage agreement forms are available from the Office of Residence Life if one roommate wishes to take responsibility for particular damage. The final price of any repairs/replacements will be determined by Residence Life and Physical Plant staff.
