Student Success Coach KristinEach month, we will feature a question and answer piece from one of our members of the Enrollment Team. For March, we are spotlighting Kristin Richards:

When did you join Stevenson University’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies and what is your role?

I joined the team in October 2012 as an Enrollment Counselor and eventually  took on the role of Business Development Associate. Recently, I became our Associate to Bachelor’s (ATB)/Cohort Coordinator. Part of my role as the ATB/Cohort Coordinator includes advising students in the Associate to Bachelor’s program in the role of Student Success Coach.

What is one thing you would like for prospective students to know about Stevenson University?

Stevenson University is a private institution which means students receive the best of both worlds. You will earn a high-quality education and also be provided personalized attention throughout your entire time as a student.

What advice would you give to students to help them be successful?

Going back to school as an adult is completely different than when you were right out of high school. You probably have a job, family, and many other life responsibilities which means finding time for schoolwork could be difficult. Before you start, find out your “why,” freshen up on your time management skills, and identify your personal support system. You will have support every step of the way from the staff and faculty at Stevenson, but you need that backing at home too.

What do you enjoy most about working at Stevenson?

This place just feels like home. I came to Stevenson as a student in 2003 and returned to work here five years ago and I still get a very welcoming, comforting feeling every day. Each person in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies cares for one another and is here because they genuinely want the best for our students. I am truly honored to be a part of such a dedicated and passionate team who work to make our students experience the best possible.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Spending time with my family! My husband and I have a six year old “forever puppy” and a little boy on the way. Last summer, we renovated our entire home ourselves and since then I have found a new love for house projects. I can’t wait for our next fixer upper!
