At Stevenson University Online, our goal is to make the process of transferring credits as smooth as possible. We understand our students come to Stevenson University Online with a variety of experiences and backgrounds which has enabled us to become experts at guiding them through the transfer process. Students are eligible to transfer credits in a variety of avenues with Stevenson University Online.

  • Types of Transfer Credits

    Community College Credits

    Students may transfer up to 70 credits from a regionally accredited community college.
    Through our partnership program, graduates from partnered intuitions are eligible to earn a bachelor’s degree at a preferred-tuition reduction. Visit our Community College Partnership page for more information. 

    Four-year University and College Credits

    Students may transfer up to 90 credits from a regionally accredited four-year institution.

    International Credits

    All credits must be evaluated by World Education Services. Visit our Admissions Requirements page for more information. Students seeking an F-1 Visa are not eligible for admission to Stevenson's adult undergraduate and graduate programs.

    Credit for Military Experience 

    Stevenson University Online accepts American Council on Education (ACE) credit recommendations on military transcripts, consistent with the University's credit transfer policy.

    Credit for Prior Learning

    Undergraduate students can earn credit for what they have learned through their previous work and life experiences. Stevenson University accepts CLEP and DSST credits with a copy of the official score. Visit our Credit for Prior Learning page for more information.  

  • Transfer Process

    Transfer of Undergraduate Credit Process

    • Admitted students who have earned college credit in the United States and submitted official transcripts from all previous institutions, will have their transfer credit evaluation completed within 7-10 business days following acceptance.
    • Students will be notified that the evaluation is completed by the Stevenson University Online Admissions Office via email, and will receive a copy of the evaluation upon meeting with their Student Success Coach.
    • If a student has credit from overseas institutions and has submitted WES documentation of this coursework, this process is dependent on the receipt of the WES evaluation by the Academic Evaluator.
    • Please note that a student’s evaluation is preliminary and ongoing. It is the applicant’s/student’s responsibility to submit additional official transcripts as external coursework is completed.
    • An appointment will be set up with the Student Success Coach, who will review the degree audit and transcript evaluation.

    Transfer of Graduate Credit Process

    • Following admission to a graduate program, the student will need to complete the Graduate Credit Transfer Evaluation form and must provide a course syllabus and/or course description for each course.
    • Admitted students who have submitted official transcripts from all previous institutions, will have their transfer credit evaluation completed within 7-10 business days following acceptance. Transfer credit is awarded at the discretion and final approval of the appropriate Program Coordinator/Associate Dean.
    • Students will be notified that the evaluation is completed by the Stevenson University Online Admissions Office via email, and will receive a copy of the evaluation upon meeting with their Student Success Coach.
    • An appointment will be set up with the Student Success Coach, who will review the degree audit and transcript evaluation.

    Transfer of Undergraduate Credit Policy

    Students desiring to transfer from another college and be admitted to an undergraduate degree program at Stevenson University must submit official transcripts of all previous college records. College-level coursework completed outside of the United States must be evaluated by World Education Services (WES). An official WES transcript is required. Stevenson University will accept a maximum of 70 undergraduate transfer credits from a regionally accredited community college and 90 undergraduate credits from a regionally accredited four-year institution. A matriculated student must complete the last 30 credits of their degree at Stevenson University.

    The courses and credits completed with a grade of "C" or better at other regionally accredited institutions are generally transferable to Stevenson. The transferability of credits from an institution that is not accredited by a regional accreditation agency may be considered upon receipt of documentation that demonstrates equivalency regarding course information and learning outcomes. It is the student’s responsibility to provide this documentation. Please consult the Registrar's Office for documentation guidelines.

    All transferable courses must be comparable to courses offered at this University. Courses that do not transfer include developmental/remedial, personal development, orientation courses and credit given for portfolio work. Some credit may be awarded for internships at the discretion of the department chair upon submission of appropriate documentation. Regardless of the number of transfer credits accepted, students must still complete the academic program requirements as shown in the Stevenson University Catalog and on the student's degree audit. Shortly following acceptance, evaluated transfer credit may be viewed through WebXpress. Incoming transfer students have access to their degree audit through WebXpress after registration.

    Transfer applicants should have left the sending institution in good standing. Grades and grade point averages earned at another institution do not transfer. The transferred credits apply toward graduation, but the grade points are not used in calculating the academic average required for graduation.     Is it possible to see how my credits transfer before I apply?
    Undergraduate students can receive an unofficial transcript evaluation prior to their acceptance into Stevenson University Online. Students will need to work with an Enrollment Counselor and submit their official or unofficial transcript(s) from all institutions previously attended.

    What is the difference between an official transfer credit evaluation and an unofficial credit evaluation?
    Unofficial transcript evaluations completed by Enrollment Counselors are subject to change and are used only as guidelines for students. Upon a students’ acceptance into a Stevenson University Online program, an Academic Evaluator will complete the official transcript evaluation. Student degrees plans are based on the official evaluation.

    Will Stevenson University Online accept older credits?
    Yes, there is no expiration date for transfer credits.

    Does Stevenson University Online accept AP scores?
    Yes, undergraduate students are eligible to receive transfer credit from AP scores. Students must have earned a four or higher and will need to submit their official results.
