Business Communication

Expand Your Career Horizon

Prepare for a range of opportunities in event planning, media, advertising, PR, publishing and marketing.

  • Program Overview

All organizations need someone who can communicate clearly and persuasively.

Can you see yourself being that person? If you have an interest in working in event planning, media, advertising, public relations, publishing, or marketing, Stevenson's B.S. in Business Communication can teach you the essential knowledge, skills, and critical-thinking ability to position you for success in one of these careers-and more.

    Overview

In Stevenson's Bachelor of Science in Business Communication program, adult students can start, advance, or change to a career in event planning, media, advertising, public relations, publishing, or marketing. You'll take traditional business courses along with courses in communication, writing, publication, information technologies, video, photography, and design. You'll also learn business principles and functions and develop oral and written presentations using information technologies, video, photography and graphics. Our students use teamwork to plan, solve problems, and produce results in a timely fashion-exactly the kind of skills today's employers are looking for.

Most courses are offered either online in an eight-week format or in an eight-week hybrid format where students meet one night per week. Some courses are offered in a 16-week online format while some courses must be completed on campus. The B.S. to M.S. option is available for students majoring in Business Communication who wish to combine their bachelor's coursework with work for a master's degree in one of Stevenson's graduate programs.
