Functional Sculpture by Churchhill Davenport

In elementary school, Churchill Davenport reinvented the instructions in a birdhouse building manual while working on a school project. The results have become what has been called “baroque conglomerations” that exude “palpable energy” Davenport’s lushly painted, quixotic birdhouses fill the trees on the Greenspring Campus. Photographs by Cassandra Bate ’12 documenting Davenports installation will be on exhibit in the Cuvilly Student-Faculty Exchange.
