Our Career Peers are Stevenson students who are trained to extend the Career Connection Center’s expertise to other students and our community.

Drop-In Hours: Connect with Career Peers Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. No appointment necessary- stop by our office at Wooded Way!

Our Career Peers help you with:

Executives in Residence 

Our Executives in Residence program offers our students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to interact with leaders from the workforce who provide unique insights into the working world. Our Executives provide you with expert knowledge on cover letter and resume advice, interview skills, networking skills, and transitioning to the professional workforce.

Your ability to work directly with our students and share your knowledge of the world of work and expectations of employers would bring immense value to their career-ready skills and boost their confidence in the interviewing process.

If you are interested in becoming one of our Executives in Residence, please contact the Career Connection Center at careerconnection@stevenson.edu. We ask for a time commitment of three to four hours per week based on your schedule. 

Gary Anderson is a recently retired “market-facing leader and customer advocate of multi-billion dollar global B2B services provider” with a forty-year professional career. He is now a small business owner and embraces a philosophy of “continuous learning … focused on team-building and talent development.”

Matt is responsible for all Career Connection Center (CCC) programs and services, personnel, fiscal resources, and initiatives. With a visible, accessible, and student-centered approach, Matt provides well-informed, engaged, and collaborative leadership at the CCC and university levels. He inspires others to do their best work, facilitates and supports diversity and inclusion, and establishes an environment that encourages innovation. He works collaboratively to advance the University’s career-focused mission.  

Laura Coleman

Laura brings data and project management for the Career Connection team. She aggregates quantitative and qualitative data to analyze degree outcomes for recent graduates and collaborates with stakeholders across campus to provide a comprehensive, detailed analysis of data, providing academic and marketing support. She assists with the administration of career management and International & Off-Campus Study (IOCS) systems and supporting technology, while also serving as affiliate faculty member and on the IOCS Advisory Board.

Kelly provides undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni with career education, advising, and connections to employers. She also leads the training, supervising, and evaluating of graduate student interns who are completing their clinical training hours. She is assigned as an affiliate faculty member and teaches Foundations of Career and Leadership courses and works collaboratively with Deans and Academic Program Administrators to develop customized career programming. Kelly serves as a liaison to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Design, School of Education, and the Honors and Scholars Programs in support of career exploration and professional preparation.

Matt provides career advising to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni, offering guidance on various career related topics such as resume and cover letter development, job and internship search strategies, interviewing skills, and networking. Additionally, he presents career related workshops, assists with networking career events, and helps coordinate career panels. Assigned as an affiliate faculty member, Matt teaches First Year Seminar, Foundations of Career, and mentors student athletes. He advises for the School of Sciences, School of Business and Leadership, School of Nursing Health Professions, and student athletes.

Chelsea develops and maintains relationships with employers to create professional opportunities for students by coordinating and scheduling on-campus recruiting events to support employers in establishing their brands.  Additionally, Chelsea collaborates with University faculty and staff to promote Career Connection Center events and programs and manages the approval process for new employer accounts and job postings in the Handshake platform. 

Ava Browne, MS

Ava has over thirty years of experience counseling and guiding individuals and families as they strive to reach their goals. She has worked for agencies such as the New York City Dept. of Social Services, Maryland State Dept. of Human Resources, Maryland State Dept. of Education and The Arc. Of Howard County.

She is in the process of completing her Certification in Professional Counseling at the University of Baltimore and is looking forward to the opportunity to continue guiding and making a positive impact in the lives of students at Stevenson University.

Cary brings over 20 years of experience and expertise in interview skills, resume and cover letter reviews, and networking. Her past experience includes teaching first-year experience and career-related courses and workshops. Cary holds a Master of Arts degree with a concentration in Human Resources Development, Professional Writing and Management and Leadership Development from Towson University.
