Each month, we profile one of the amazing Phonathon students working in SU's call center. This month, we sat down with student caller, Howard '17, an English Language and Literature major from Pikesville, MD.

Why did you choose to come to Stevenson?

I was given an opportunity to receive a transfer scholarship after I left my former school.

What do you like best about SU now that you're here?

I love the small classes and it allows you to get to know your professors if you really want to.

What activities to you enjoy outside of class?

Outside of class I'm usually found writing or doing something musical.

What do you like best about being a student caller?

Sometimes you'll find a few alumni that have a great story that they want to share with you as well as awesome advice.

What are your plans after graduation?

Post-graduation, I intend to start my career in the publishing/editing track. Long-term, I hope to head my own publishing house or literary magazine with a focus on young writers.

Each month, we profile one of the amazing Phonathon students working in SU's call center. This month, we sat down with student caller, Billie '19, an elementary education major from Delmar, Delaware.

Why did you choose to come to Stevenson?

Everybody was so welcoming! I loved the close knit community aspect of Stevenson and I wanted to be a part of it. They also have an amazing Education department and great faculty.

What do you like best about SU now that you're here?

I love that Stevenson is a small school filled with people who really care about each other. Everywhere I go on campus I see somebody I know; it's such a great feeling to be surrounded by friends instead of strangers.

What activities do you enjoy outside of class?

I am in the Stevenson University Marching Band so that takes up a lot of my free time. I also enjoy going to the different events that MAP (Mustang Activities & Programs) puts on; they are always so fun!

What do you like best about being a student caller?

I love getting to talk to the alumni about their experiences at Stevenson/VJC. I get to hear some amazing stories that I will never forget!

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on becoming an elementary school teacher in Maryland or Delaware soon after I graduate. I know that Stevenson will prepare me well for my career!

Tuesday, November 29 was #GivingTuesday, or as we call it at Stevenson, #Giving2SUDay. Sandwiched between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, the day was established five years ago to encourage us to return to the thanks and giving spirit of the season. It affords us the opportunity to support the organizations and efforts that mean the most to us and is fueled by the power of our connections to each other.#Giving2SUDay was a great success! The total number of donors doubled from 2015 and over $4,000 in matching funds was contributed by Marc Bunting '91, to support Community Service and Service Learning at SU. Stevenson's success is a direct result of the generosity of our alumni, parents, faculty, staff, current students, and friends.

We send a huge "thank you" out to our #Giving2SUDay supporters and we hope that you enjoyed the givingest day of the year!

Faculty, staff, and student participants of the 2015 alternative spring break trip to New Orleans gathered in front of a home they worked to rebuild. On #Giving2SUDay, a tremendous amount of support was shown for Mission: I'm Home, a Special Interest Group at Stevenson focused on rehabilitating damaged or destroyed houses - enabling displaced families to return home.

Each month, we profile one of the amazing Phonathon students working in SU's call center. This month we sat down with student caller Katie '20, a chemistry major from Lanham, MD.

Why did you choose to come to Stevenson?

The main reason is that Stevenson gave me the most scholarship money. But also, the dorms are newer and way bigger compared to other schools I was considering. The staff at Stevenson were extremely nice and helpful at every open house, Accepted Student's Day, and Mustang Day that I attended. Everyone was super nice, and I immediately felt comfortable every time I came here to visit.

What do you like best about SU now that you're here?

Now that I am here, I am loving how small my classes are. I always saw huge, scary lecture halls of colleges in movies, and dreading having to attend a class with so many people. But luckily, SU is such a small school my biggest class has 20 something people.

What activities to you enjoy outside of class?

A. I am in Colorgaurd in our marching band, and I love it. Outside of class, I am usually sleeping.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to attend University of MD's graduate school of pharmacy to earn my Doctorate of Pharmacy. I will either work locally as a pharmacist in a grocery store or pharmacy setting, or in a research lab developing and preparing medications for the public.

Homecoming at Stevenson continues to grow and we cannot thank our dedicated Stevenson alumni, parents, students, faculty, and staff enough for your continued participation. Our eventful Hometown Homecoming week was a great success as the entire University community came together to celebrate Stevenson and show their Mustang pride. Learn more about a few of our featured events below.

Alumni Reconnect During Academic Affinity Reunions
Nearly 150 alumni were welcomed to the Kevin J. Manning Academic Center during Homecoming week for affinity reunions specific to the School of Design, Fine School of the Sciences, and Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions. Additionally, alumni from the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) gathered in the new GPS space in Garrison Hall on the Owings Mills campus. Former students shared memories of their alma mater and celebrated all we've accomplished as a University with fellow alumni and faculty.

Milestone Alumni and Jubilarians Build A Legacy
It was wonderful to welcome alumni back to the Villa Julie College campus in the Greenspring Valley for the annual Milestone Reunion and Jubilarian Society Dinner. The event was a true testament to the passion and dedication our alumni have for their alma mater. Milestone alumni and Jubilarians have firmly built the foundation of learning, living, caring, and service that our Stevenson students carry on today.
