Tuesday, November 29 was #GivingTuesday, or as we call it at Stevenson, #Giving2SUDay. Sandwiched between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, the day was established five years ago to encourage us to return to the thanks and giving spirit of the season. It affords us the opportunity to support the organizations and efforts that mean the most to us and is fueled by the power of our connections to each other.#Giving2SUDay was a great success! The total number of donors doubled from 2015 and over $4,000 in matching funds was contributed by Marc Bunting '91, to support Community Service and Service Learning at SU. Stevenson's success is a direct result of the generosity of our alumni, parents, faculty, staff, current students, and friends.

We send a huge "thank you" out to our #Giving2SUDay supporters and we hope that you enjoyed the givingest day of the year!

Faculty, staff, and student participants of the 2015 alternative spring break trip to New Orleans gathered in front of a home they worked to rebuild. On #Giving2SUDay, a tremendous amount of support was shown for Mission: I'm Home, a Special Interest Group at Stevenson focused on rehabilitating damaged or destroyed houses - enabling displaced families to return home.

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, students, parents, friends, and supporters of the Shannon Henretty Nursing Scholarship Fund gathered to honor the life of Shannon Henretty ’14, a graduate of the nursing program and a student-athlete who was much admired by the SU community. Following a collegiate level cross country meet hosted by Stevenson, a 2k walk on the Greenspring campus was dedicated to Shannon. All proceeds from the event went to benefit the scholarship fund.

To build the fund, the inaugural Shannon Henretty Memorial Run was held on October 20, 2015, with 122 participants who celebrated Shannon’s memory and helped build the Shannon Henretty Nursing Scholarship. The “Shine Like Shannon” campaign was launched to highlight her legacy and to help others carry on the work she had started in the field of nursing.

Because of the generosity of those Shannon touched, we were able to begin awarding the Shannon Henretty Nursing Scholarship in fall 2015 with another award in place for this year. The fund currently stands at over $20,000 with a goal of $50,000 to establish a permanent endowed scholarship fund, so that Shannon’s legacy will help others in perpetuity. We are so grateful for the support already given in honor of Shannon because this is exactly the kind of effort she would have supported herself.  If you are interested in helping reach the goal of permanently endowing the scholarship, please contact Meghan Culbertson, Director of Development, at mculbertson@stevenson.edu or by phone at 2227.

Stevenson University is thrilled to welcome Noovis to Stevenson Partners. As a new member, the company will award the Noovis Annual Scholarship to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business Information Systems or Computer Information Systems next academic year.

Noovis provides unique fiber optic network design, engineering, and program management to government and commercial customers. Noovis co-founder and president, Eric Welty ’07, earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stevenson University and worked as an adjunct professor in the Brown School of Business and Leadership.

"Noovis is committed to developing and maintaining its local relationships.  We are always looking to leverage our success to support the community in any way we can.   My time with Stevenson, both as a student and as a member of its faculty, left a lasting impression that made it an easy decision for us to provide an annual undergraduate scholarship.  Stevenson University truly invests in the future success of its graduates and Noovis is proud to partner with such a distinguished institution,” shared Eric (pictured below).

Several Digital Marketing students from Stevenson traveled to The Agora Companies last Friday to learn about the company and meet with staff. They were also introduced to the Bill Bonner Scholarship for Rising Leaders in Digital Marketing, Agora's new scholarship being awarded to a freshman or sophomore candidate within their program.

The afternoon afforded students the opportunity to interact with employees and leaders from The Agora Companies over lunch and a tour of the company's impressive campus in midtown Baltimore City. The students also participated in informal interviews during the event. It was a very rewarding experience for our student participants.

It's Thank a Giver (TAG) Week at SU. Students are joining the Office of University Advancement in coloring "thank you" postcards to send to donors. They are also signing a banner to express their gratitude to those individuals who support the University.

The banner will be displayed at our 2nd Annual Scholarship Luncheon on Sunday, April 17, where scholarship donors and their student recipients will gather to celebrate their successes.
