What is the Post 9/11 GI Bill?
The Post 9/11 GI Bill is a new education benefit for individuals who served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Post 9/11 provides the most sweeping changes to veterans' benefits since World War II.
Who is eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill?
Veterans may be eligible if he/she has served at least 90 aggregate days on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. The Veterans Administration is the specific resource of information regarding specific eligibility and benefits.
What is the Yellow Ribbon Program?
The Yellow Ribbon program is a part of the Post 9/11 GI Bill and is specifically designed for students wishing to attend private institutions.
Who is eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program?
Only veterans who are certified at 100% eligibility are qualified to participate in the Yellow Ribbon portion of this program.
What does this mean from a financial standpoint?
The VA will pay to Stevenson University the maximum amount of tuition per credit hour that would be paid to a state institution as well as a specific amount for fees. After this amount is paid, the balance that is remaining will be divided so that Stevenson University will pay 50% of the balance and the VA will pay the additional 50%. This means that a student who is certified at 100% eligibility will be able to attend Stevenson University at no cost for tuition and fees.

SU is happy to participate in this program. We are one of the few school in the state to take an unlimited number of students who will qualify for these program.
How do I apply for the Yellow Ribbon Program?
Students who are interested in this program should submit their application on line through the VA. The VA will determine a veteran's eligibility and will send the student a certificate of eligibility which will indicate the level of certification. At that point, the student should contact the certifying official in the Registrar's Office for additional instructions.
How does the Yellow Ribbon Program benefit me?
Students who are certified at 100% eligibility are able to attend SU and have all of their tuition and fees covered.
