Greenspring Review is a digital literary magazine run by Stevenson University students and produced by the English Language and Literature program. Launched in Fall 2016, this online publication features a wide variety of content including literature, photography, art, video, and other forms of media.

Global Game Jam

Global Game Jam

Stevenson University’s English Department is proud to co-host the Stevenson site of Global Game Jam, the world’s largest game hackathon. Global Game Jam is an exciting race-the-clock game creating experience taking place simultaneously at hundreds of locations around the globe. Writers, programmers, artists, gamers, and creatives at all skill levels collaborate throughout one weekend each year to create new games, presenting and playing their creations at a Sunday evening showcase. Co-sponsored by the English Department and Computer Information Systems.

Summer Writers WorkshopSummer Writers’ Workshop

The Stevenson Summer Writers’ Workshop invites rising 5-12 graders to spend one week exploring creative writing through small group writing workshops with Stevenson’s creative writing faculty. Workshops include instruction in contemporary literature, craft, genre, and publishing. Students also attend literary readings and performances, enjoy printing and book-making activities, and present their work publicly at a reading for family and friends at the conclusion of the Summer Writers’ Workshop.

Visiting Writer SeriesVisiting Writer Series

The English Department’s Visiting Writer Series, supported by the Brooke Peirce Endowment, brings nationally renowned contemporary writers to Stevenson. The series, which combines public readings with intimate master classes, has featured Carmen Maria Machado, finalist for the National Book Award, Tyehimba Jess, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, and Sofia Samatar, winner of the World Fantasy Award.
