We now have three in rotation, the first from 2015, the second from 2016, and now this. Go team! Want to watch it? Welcome back! Stay tuned for exciting information about what the Department of Film & Moving Image has planned for this year. In the meantime, check out the photos, above, from the set of Assistant Professor Chris Ernst's feature film. Class of 2017 graduates Rachel Pollock (Production Manager), Kara Stone (Key Grip/Gaffer), Gabby Sturgeon (Assistant Art Director) and Daniel Whitehead (Assistant Producer) – the only one not pictured – worked on Professor Ernst's film, produced by his independent studio, Bright Rectangle Films. The movie is an original adaptation of Fritz Lieber’s short story “The Hill and the Hole,” a quirky supernatural thriller set in the high desert of the Southwest. Principal photography took place on location in Colorado and New Mexico this July and August. The film will be completed Summer of 2018.

Click on the image, above, to check out our new PSA – again, airing before all movies at Baltimore's historic Senator Theatre – to replace the one that has been playing for the past year. Once more, it was made in a class taught by Christopher Ernst (this time, it was FMI 303, or "Lighting for the Camera"). Enjoy!

Students in Christopher Ernst's FMI201 - "Cinematography: Black & White" - worked with camera supports, including a Steadicam, a crane, a dolly, etc., in today's class, while also learning how different lenses affect the way the image looks. Here are some photos.

Today, Canon rep Lisa Gualtieri visited Stevenson Film & Moving Image (FMI) Professor Christopher Ernst's FMI201 (Cinematography I) class to demo Canon's line of EOS C100 Mark II cameras, which we just purchased. Pictured, above, are Lisa, Chris Ernst and assorted students in the seminar.
