You never know how much time and effort goes into planning an event until you’ve been behind the scenes. I have had the pleasure of volunteering for the Stevenson Fashion Design and Merchandising’s annual fashion show for the past three years. I get so much excitement seeing the creativity that the students put into their senior collections as well as watching the models get pampered by the hair and makeup team.

I enjoy helping the models get dressed, directing them to the stage and watching the rehearsal before the show actually starts. It’s very inspiring to see all the beautifully constructed garments grace the stage. Every class that you make a garment in gets to be in the show! The joy and happiness the designers feel as their collection is showcased in front of friends, family and faculty is so inspiring. I am anxious and excited as I prepare for my senior collection that will be in the show in the future.

Despite the long and tireless hours, the show is truly satisfying when you see everything come together. As a volunteer, you get so much experience in producing a show, and it’s a great resume builder. The hard work and dedication that goes into the show and sharing the moment with family and friends is always one to remember.

Stevenson’s fashion show is Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at 7pm. Venue to be announced. Follow us on Instagram for more details: http://www.instagram.com/su_fashiondesign/
