BizComm scores a spot on Mock Trial team

The university's competitive Mock Trial team that is associated with AMTA (American Mock Trial Association) is entering its fifth year of competition, and for the first time, the team held tryouts open to all majors. Congratulations to BizComm Lindsay Somuah who earned one of nine spots on the team! They will attend their first invitational tournament at Temple Law School Nov. 5-6 and then will host an invitational tournament at Stevenson in the Brown School of Business and Leadership the weekend of Jan. 28-29 with 16 teams participating.  UMBC, Stevenson, Maryland, Washington & Lee, Hopkins, Georgetown, Patrick Henry, Seton Hall, North Carolina, Haverford and American are the fortunate participants.  Melanie K. Snyder, Esq., professor of law, writes, "We are envisioning Lindsay to be a lead attorney in several trials, and we are thrilled to have her on board!" Way to go, Lindsay!...Click here to read more.

Business Communication faculty members (l-r) Chip Rouse, Stephanie Verni and Leeanne Bell McManus presented a session about event planning at Stevenson University's student leadership development workshop, Leaderstang. Using their event planning textbook, the three faculty members spoke to students about the importance of listening to a client and developing strong interpersonal skills to help reduce anxiety when meeting someone new. The two-day workshop was sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and the Office of Residence Life.
