Business Communication professor Leeanne Bell McManus has been busy preparing for the Eastern Communication Association’s 2018 convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — her own home town. As the association’s first vice president, Dr. Bell McManus is responsible for all convention planning before she assumes the role of ECA president.

The 109th convention will be held at the Omni William Penn Hotel April 25-29, 2018. The theme, “Building Bridges,” speaks to Pittsburgh’s “unique topography, being situated at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela, which forms the Ohio River. When a city is located on water, bridges span the horizon. The bridges of Pittsburgh play an important role in the city’s infrastructure. Without the 446 bridges interlacing the city, Pittsburgh would be a region of isolated communities. Just as the bridges in the city connect communities, communication has the opportunity to build bridges within and outside of our discipline, creating countless opportunities for research, teaching, and service,” according to ecasite.org.

Our best wishes to Dr. Bell McManus as she takes on this monumental commitment! (Photo from Dr. Bell McManus’ Facebook page)
