The Business Communication department warmly congratulates Art and Visual Communication Design chair Amanda Hostalka as she steps in to fill the interim dean position left by the retirement of School of Design dean Keith Kutch. Professor Hostalka has served as chair of the Art and Visual Communication Design department since 2009, and came to Stevenson University in 1998. Welcome and best wishes!

Another Advanced Intercultural Communication class will include spring break travel abroad, as Dr. Deric Greene and Professor Christine Noya journey to Puerto Rico in 2015. Spaces in the class are atill available, and a payment plan should make the trip affordable for all Business Communicatino students. Interested? Contact Dr. Greene at

In an effort to make sure each BizComm is fully prepared for the kind of speaking opportunities they will be offered in their careers, the department will offer an "Advanced Public Speaking" elective course this fall, taught by assistant professor Christine Noya, pictured at left receiving an award for her service on campus.

The course will focus on the kind of oral communication contexts that students will face once they graduate, and give lots of personal, professional and team feedback to those enrolled. (Photo from SU Flickr)

BizComm alum and Stevenson University web director Brandon Seidl has co-authored a book on Ocean City, Maryland's famous Trimper's Rides. His book, "Trimper's Rides," is complete with "nostalgic images of past attractions and the people who made Trimpers Rides the destination for family fun," and is a part of the series called "Images of America." With co-author Monica Thrash, Seidl delved into the history of the boardwalk attraction and pored through hundreds of photographs to make the book complete.

Photo memories from this spring's study trip to Ireland are now available for students and faculty with the publication of the newest photobook, Business Communication in Ireland, 2014. All students who went on the trip received an email from the department letting them know of the book's completion. The 23-member group enjoyed spring break in Galway and Dublin, Ireland.
