Business Communication News

Date: Aug 2017

The department of Business Communication is thrilled to welcome back students to begin a new school year. The faculty join together in hoping the year will be filled with success, happiness, and good communication!

Remember that your faculty members are happy to meet with you if you are rethinking your fall schedule. The last day to add a new class or drop one without penalty is Tuesday, September 5. All first-year students must meet with their success coach in order to make any changes. All other students should consult with their academic advisor.

Best of luck in 2017!

Business Communication alum Maya Shipley Tyler will join the departmental faculty this fall as she assumes teaching duties for the Principle and Practices of Public Relations class. Maya is the Alumni Support Coordinator at Baltimore's Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and received her Master's degree from Towson University in Communications Management after graduating from Stevenson. She is excited to be back at her alma mater teaching in an adjunct position, hoping to make an impact on future public relations stars! (Photo from Facebook)
Business Communication faculty members Leeanne Bell McManus and Chip Rouse are starting their fifth year as members of Stevenson's "Faculty in the Halls" program. The program aims to help first-year students (as well as students in other residence halls) recognize that learning can occur anywhere on campus -- not just in the classroom. The five faculty members hold office hours in the residence halls  -- Western Run, Susquehanna, and Patapsco -- and plan monthly activities for their residents. Business Communication professor Stephanie Verni spoke to the faculty and staff at the opening Stevenson meeting about how to begin to give voice and reality to the story inside each of us waiting to be told. This is a transcript of her speech....

Congratulations to SU Business Communication grad (class of 2017) Kait Kirkwood, who has snagged a terrific job as the new Discovery Communications Intern Program Coordinator....
