Business Communication News

Date: May 20, 2014

The Business Communication department has selected Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the site for this fall's First Year Seminar trip. Past visits have included Washington, D.C.; New York City; and Annapolis, Maryland. Philadelphia is a perfect site because of its great historical past and its proximity to Stevenson University. Professors Heather Harris and Deric Greene made a reconnaissance day trip to the "City of Brotherly Love" to check out the sights and make some plans in preparation for the September outing. In an effort to make sure each BizComm is fully prepared for the kind of speaking opportunities they will be offered in their careers, the department will offer an "Advanced Public Speaking" elective course this fall, taught by assistant professor Christine Noya, pictured at left receiving an award for her service on campus.

The course will focus on the kind of oral communication contexts that students will face once they graduate, and give lots of personal, professional and team feedback to those enrolled. (Photo from SU Flickr)
