The 2014 Slattery Memorial Lecture was established in memory of Stevenson University’s former Department Chair and Professor of Mathematics, Susan Palmer Slattery, Ph.D., who passed away in 2010. Arlene G. Weiner, an environmental engineer with the Baltimore District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers gave the featured address, “Building a Career on Applied Mathematics — You Don’t Have to be a Rocket Scientist.”

During her 30 years as an environmental professional, Ms. Weiner has worked all over the world. She shared her career highlights and lessons learned with Stevenson students, faculty and staff.

The event also recognized senior Applied Math major, Anna Foote, who was honored as the 2014 Slattery Scholar.
