The International Honor Society in Psychology

The mission of Psi Chi is to promote excellence in scholarship and research in psychology.  Psi Chi recognizes academic excellence and fosters career development.  Psi Chi is comprised of students interested in the field of psychology who meet the minimum qualifications.  Stevenson University inducts qualifying students in the Spring semester of each year.

The qualifications for eligibility for Psi Chi membership are:

  • must be second semester sophomores or above
  • have a 3.0 GPA in Psychology with a minimum of three Psychology courses
  • have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • be in the highest 35% of GPA for their class

The Stevenson University Chapter of Psi Chi sponsors a Speakers Series and two annual events.
  • the Speakers Series involves invited addresses in which psychologists discuss their professional development
  • the annual Psychology Department Student Showcase at which includes Psychology student poster presentations of their research; presentation of experiential learning activities obtained through field placements and service learning; and club and honor society activities
  • a Graduate Information Session which has a guest speaker, who talks about how to apply for graduate school and admissions criteria, and a panel of Stevenson University alumni who have attended graduate school, who talk about their experiences in applying for graduate school and the graduate programs that they attend.
