Nursing: Traditional Program/ High School Graduates

Students selecting this plan of study participate in full-time collegiate study with a balance of nursing courses and liberal arts/science courses that support their learning. Important features of this option are the strong theoretical and clinical experiences. The Traditional Program provides opportunities for students to deal with real life issues in the world of health care. The goal of the program is to prepare nurses to meet the challenges of the nursing profession in the 21st century.

Why Choose SU's Traditional Nursing Program?

  • Students enjoy a small private college atmosphere where they receive personalized attention and are treated as individuals.
  • All students have an advisor from the School of Sciences beginning in their first semester freshman year.
  • Students have rich clinical experiences in a variety of local hospitals and community-based settings to ensure the best experience possible.
  • Graduates of SU's Nursing Program are valued by leaders in the nursing community for their strong clinical skills and professionalism.

Upon successful completion of all degree requirements, graduates earn a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in nursing and are eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become registered nurses.  This option enables students to become competent nurses, who are valued professionals with specific goals for the future.
