Nursing: Traditional Option/ Transfer and Second Bachelor's Students

Beginning Fall 2009, Stevenson University is offering both a two year upper division Traditional Option for full-time students and a three year upper division Traditional Option for part-time students. This option will be available to students who have completed all prerequisites and who have been accepted to the University as transfer students seeking either their first or second bachelor's degree. The prerequisite course work may be completed at any regionally-accredited institution including Stevenson University.

The Traditional Option is a challenging program of study for students who are highly motivated, self-directed, and independent. Upon successful completion of all degree requirements, graduates earn a B.S. in Nursing and are eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become registered nurses. The Traditional Option enables students to become competent nurses, who are valued professionals with specific goals for the future.

Why choose the Traditional Option for Transfer and Second Bachelor's Students?

  • Students enjoy a small private college atmosphere where they receive personalized attention and are treated as individuals.
  • All students are assigned a nursing division advisor beginning in their first semester.
  • Students have clinical experiences in a variety of hospitals and community-based settings.
  • Graduates of SU's Nursing Program are valued by leaders in the nursing community for their strong clinical skills and professionalism.
  • Students who choose the Traditional Option for Transfer and Second Bachelor's Students can continue to work while enrolled in this option because the majority of classes and clinical experiences are offered in both day and evening/weekend formats. Flexibility with work schedules will be necessary to complete the program.

Part-time Nursing Option

"While taking classes at SU, I worked as a Clinical Nurse Intern at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The skills I learned at Villa Julie helped me transition well to the real world of nursing. After graduation, I accepted a job at Hopkins."
