Our Business Communications program addresses the need of all businesses for clear, persuasive communication. As a Business Communications major, you will acquire a variety of skills and knowledge from traditional marketing and management courses, along with courses in design, publications, information technologies, video, journalism, and business writing. Graduates are employed in both the public and private sectors, and in business and industry.
As a Business Communications major, you will master the latest technological tools in computer and design courses that will enable you to provide an artistic complement to the business world. You will also strengthen your written and visual talents through courses focused on different styles of writing and video. Communications courses are numerous and varied, and they will enable you to hone your speaking abilities while learning to understand the needs of your audience. In addition, you will gain a crucial knowledge of the business environment through courses in the areas of accounting, management, marketing, promotions, sales, and entrepreneurial development.

Business Communications majors are ready to enter the business world with a variety of skills, including:
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel
- Ability to write in many different styles, including expository prose, technical writing, journalistic style, survey/research reporting, and web writing
- Clear understanding of Macintosh programs including QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop
- Knowledge of the legal aspects of business relationships and the principles of sales, advertising, and human resource management
- Aptitude in the use of statistical and mathematical models for decision-making
- Ability to shoot and edit video in a three-camera studio
