Accounting

Bachelor of Science

The Stevenson Accounting program is designed to provide graduates with the knowledge required to become successful in today's multifaceted business world. With accounting, information technology, and business included in the coursework, the program helps students understand contemporary work environments, issues, and challenges.

Study emphasizes financial accounting at the intermediate level, cost accounting, tax accounting, auditing, governmental accounting, and business law. During the capstone, students synthesize their knowledge using a business strategy approach.

The accounting curriculum satisfies all course requirements for the State of Maryland Certified Public Accounting examination. Students may choose to complete one of two five-year options to satisfy the 150 credit-hour requirements for the exam:

  1. Second Bachelor's Degree Option - Complete a second bachelor's degree in either Business Information Systems or Paralegal Studies, receiving two bachelor's degree diplomas from Stevenson.

  2. BS/MS Option - Combine undergraduate accounting coursework with graduate coursework in one of SU's graduate programs, earning a bachelor's and a master's degree. The BS/MS Degree Option allows students to earn both degrees in as few as five years.

Students may also minor in accounting, or complete an accounting track within the Business Administration major.
