Admissions:

What are the admission requirements for the Accelerated Paralegal Studies program?
Applicants to this program should have at least two years of professional work experience and 30 college credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

  • Optional: Submit resume, letters of recommendation, writing sample between 250-350 words, professional licenses, or certificates.

What if I do not meet the GPA requirement?
If your GPA is below 2.5 you will need to submit a resume, letters of recommendation, or a writing sample. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

What if I do not have 30 college credits?
If you do not have 30 college credits you will need to send an official copy of your high school transcripts. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

How can I apply?
You can apply online at www.stevenson.edu. No application fee is required.

Is there an application deadline?
The Stevenson University Admissions Office reviews application on a rolling basis throughout the year. However, the University strongly encourages applicants to submit all required materials no later than four weeks prior to the start of the desired session.

Tuition:

What are the tuition and fees for this program?
The undergraduate tuition rate is $435 per credit. There is a $75 administrative fee that is required each semester.

Does Stevenson University accept tuition assistance forms from corporations or the military?

Program:

How many credits are required for the Paralegal Studies program?
This program is a 120 credit hour program.

When are the courses offered?
Courses for this program are offered every other weekend. Classes are offered both onsite and online.

How much credit can I transfer from my previous course work?
Stevenson University will accept up to 70 credits from a community college and 90 credits from an accredited four year institution.

How do I transfer my credits from another university?
Submit your official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities to the Admissions office. SU will accept up to 70 credits from a community college and 90 credits total. Your last 30 credits must be completed at SU. Grades of C or better from a regionally accredited college or university are transferable to SU. Credits from nationally accredited colleges are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

What does an accelerated course entail?
Accelerated courses move at a faster pace than traditional classes. Coursework is designed for the adult student who is able to work independently.

What are the advantages to the accelerated option?
There are several advantages to the accelerated program:

  • Earn the credits to complete your degree at a convenient, accelerated pace.
  • Continue working a full-time, day job while earning your college degree.
  • Online technology allows you to work around your schedule and learn at your convenience.
  • SU staff members are familiar with adult learners.
  • Earn up to 9 credits per semester at a part-time tuition rate.
  • Online registration and student WebAdvisor accounts provide flexibility in scheduling.

Is acceleration my only option as an adult student?
No. Adults can complete selected degree programs offered at Stevenson in a traditional 16-week format through any combination of evening and day classes.

Can I take traditional courses along with accelerated courses?
Yes. You may take a combination of formats in order to best meet your needs.

How long will it take me to complete this degree?
Students can complete the degree in approximately two years depending on the number of credits transferred into the program and the number of courses taken during the academic year.

What can I do with this degree?
Graduates of the SU Paralegal program are prepared to enter the working world as paralegals in law firms, state prosecutor's offices, and a variety of other legal settings. This program is also an excellent option for students who want to pursue law school or a Master’s in our Forensic Studies program.
