The search for Stevenson University’s new president is nearing its final stages. The Presidential Search Committee—chaired by T. Scott Pugatch, Vice Chair of Stevenson’s Board of Trustees—includes representation from the Board of Trustees, faculty, and the student body. The search firm contracted by the Board received inquiries from well over 100 interested candidates and presented 20 top candidates to the Search Committee for initial review. In December, the Committee conducted interviews with eight candidates whose professional experiences and accomplishments most closely matched the qualifications sought for the next president of the University. From this group, four final candidates have been selected for additional confidential interviews with the Search Committee joined by the Advisory Search Committee representing Stevenson faculty, staff, and alumni through the Dean’s Cabinet, the President’s Cabinet, and a Stevenson alumnus.
The Chair of our Board of Trustees, Jim Stradtner, has informed us that the candidate pool has been incredibly strong and diverse, and we are confident that this process will produce an outstanding leader for Stevenson University. We expect an announcement about the selection of the new president to be made in early March.

The search committee chaired by Scott Pugatch, had its second meeting on October 18, 2016. From a list of some one hundred + contacts, we were provided with information on twenty candidates that our consultant Isaacson, Miller recommended as most qualified. After reviewing each candidate, we concluded with a list of approximately ten candidates that the committee would like to interview and/or have additional information provided.
The search committee will have a meeting in mid-November to further discuss this list of candidates in preparation for a meeting in early December. At the December meeting the committee, with the assistance of Isaacson, Miller, will agree on a list of eight semifinalists that we would like to interview. These interviews will take place in early January, 2017.
I am pleased with the process to date and I am optimistic about the quality of candidates under consideration.
