Stevenson University Launching New School of Health Professions
Stevenson University will officially open its new School of Health Professions with a launch event Monday, Dec. 7, in the Inscape Theatre, located on the University’s Greenspring Campus, 1525 Greenspring Valley Road, Stevenson, MD 21153. The event includes an opening reception at 4:30 p.m. followed by an informational program starting at 5:30 p.m.
The program will include a keynote address from Maryland Del. Dan K. Morhaim, M.D., titled, “Hot Topics in Healthcare Today: Medical Cannibas.”
The School of Health Professions will serve as the new home to the University’s Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science programs. It will become Stevenson’s seventh academic school, joining the Brown School of Business and Leadership, School of Design, School of Education, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of the Sciences, and School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
“Creating the School of Health Professions recognizes the significance of the programs that are housed there—pre-licensure Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science—to the overall enrollment of Stevenson University,” said Paul D. Lack, Ph.D., Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Further, these programs have distinctive features in that they both require a heavy emphasis on clinical education and also have specialized accreditation requirements, making it useful for them to be organized into a separate school.”
Stevenson University, known for its distinctive career focus, is the third-largest independent university in Maryland with more than 4,400 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and adult bachelor’s programs at locations in Stevenson and Owings Mills.
