On January 6, 2014, Stevenson University‘s Office of Marketing and Digital Communications will unveil a redesigned and revamped website that features responsive design technology and aims to provide users, particularly prospective students, with a seamless web experience. This website redesign is Stevenson’s first since 2007.

“The redesign of Stevenson’s website is critical to the success of our recruitment and enrollment of prospective students, finding top-notch faculty and staff to join our ever-growing team, and for ongoing engagement with our alumni,” said Glenda LeGendre, Vice President of Marketing and Digital Communications.

Stevenson’s revamped web presence is built with Responsive Web Design technology, which enables the site to adapt its layout to any screen size allowing users to navigate the site and complete tasks using a mobile device, tablet, or computer. The site essentially becomes a mobile app.

“We need to meet prospective students where they are, and that is increasingly in mobile environments,” said Brandon Seidl, Stevenson’s Web Director.

Other features to the new site include:

  • Extensive use of videos and photos to tell the story of Stevenson’s academic quality, student experience, and campus culture
  • A robust news feed and built-in blogging tools that allow faculty to tell stories and share experiences
  • A revised website structure to help users complete tasks and find information faster and with fewer clicks
  • Engaging layouts that prominently display Stevenson’s brand distinctions and career focus

The site effectively incorporates both the traditional undergraduate programs and the adult-focused graduate and bachelor’s programs offered by Stevenson. Previously, Stevenson’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies’ web presence existed as an independent microsite. Now it will share the <www.stevenson.edu> URL for enhanced search engine optimization (SEO).

“Our new site provides a focused and streamlined user experience, allowing users -whether they are traditional undergraduates or adults seeking advanced degrees-to navigate the site more directly, freely, and confidently,” said Seidl. “In addition to giving the site a more modern, unified aesthetic, the redesign allowed us to create a more integrated experience, bringing in not only multimedia and social media, but also our various departments, programs, and Schools under one site.”

Stevenson University, known for its distinctive career focus, is the third-largest independent undergraduate university in Maryland with more than 4,400 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and adult bachelor’s programs at locations in Stevenson and Owings Mills.
