Stevenson Appoints Pamela L. A. Barkett Vice President of Human Resources

Stevenson University announces the appointment of Pamela L. A. Barkett as the University’s new Vice President of Human Resources. Barkett previously served as the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and Title IX Coordinator for Furman University in South Carolina. In her new position at Stevenson, she will also serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet.

“I am very glad to have Pam joining us in this important leadership and administrative role,” said Kevin J. Manning, Ph.D., President of the University. “Her lengthy experience in corporate and university human resources—from benefits and compliance to recruitment and training—will be a great asset to our employees and also to the President’s Cabinet as we work on new initiatives at Stevenson.”

Barkett brings more than 25 years of managerial and supervisory experience to her position as Vice President of Human Resources, including 18 years working in higher education. Prior to her work at Furman University, she served as the Staff/Labor Relations and Employment Manager for Johns Hopkins University; Director of Employment at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; and Director of Human Resources/EEO Officer for University of North Carolina-Pembroke. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Barkett holds a bachelor’s from Towson University and a Master’s in Organizational Development and Human Resources from Johns Hopkins University.

Stevenson University, known for its distinctive career focus, is the third-largest independent university in Maryland with more than 4,400 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and adult bachelor’s programs at locations in Stevenson and Owings Mills.
