Stevenson’s Department of English will be hosting fiction writer Carmen Maria Machado in celebration of the fourth year of the Visiting Writer Series. Machado is an exciting young fiction writer whose work appears in such major literary venues as Granta and The American Reader. Her book Her Body and Other Parties is being published by Graywolf Press in 2017. Playing masterfully with genre and form, Machado’s stories explore in fresh ways issues of identity, gender, and history. They are often short and sweet, brief but arresting forays that can surprise, delight, and provoke.
