Victory for a Dime: The Fighting Comic Books of the Second World War
On view through September 29
The comic book industry reached dizzying heights during the Second World War, when comics became an integral part of America’s propaganda war and forever cemented a place in American popular culture. This unprecedented exhibition, featuring more than 30 poster-size covers, offers a look at the moment when a bunch of talented dreamers, most of them Jewish kids in New York, created iconic characters who battled it out with the Axis while the fate of the world hung in the balance.
This exhibition is curated by Mark Fertig, author of Take That, Adolf!: The Fighting Comic Books of the Second World War and is presented in partnership with SHAG: Society for History and Graphics.
